Waking by Ursula LeGuin

If you are undergoing change in your life, this poem is for you. Though referring to the female persona, I always felt this poem addressed anyone experiencing personal transformation. Never give up who you are or your dreams. ~ C.I. Mues

Waking: Two Poems
by Ursula K. LeGuin

Drifting on the April river
of the dark, sweet winds
broken by birdsong rapids,
I am borne to daylight.

In the grey cocoon of light the mind
finds metamorphosis,
makes from the wreck of what she was
the wings of what she is.
